ON THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE ISONZO FRONT (20 km)

LENGTH AND DURATION: 20 km (6-7 hours, time includes stops)

From the center of Bovec we will set off towards Čezsoča. After crossing the bridge over the Soča River, we will continue our journey to the hamlet of Jablanca and to the suspension bridge (Breka), where we will admire the emerald Soča River below us. From there we will continue our journey to the village of Kal-Koritnica (refreshment center) and climb to Čelo - an open-air museum with perfectly preserved remains of the First World War and a wonderful view of the Bovec Basin. Via Kolovrat we will continue our journey to the Kluže Fortress - a mighty fortress above the gorge of the Koritnica River, which served as a defense against Turkish invasions, Napoleon's army and against the attack in World War I. There, soldiers of the 1313 Society will welcome us with goulash and polenta. From the Kluže Fortress, the circular route turns back towards Bovec. We will stop at a beekeeper (tasting), then head towards the Gothic church of St. Leonard, built in the 15th century. We will ring the wishing bell and head to the Eco Farm, where we will taste Bovec sheep's curd and Bovec cheese. After crossing the finish line, a well-deserved commemorative medal and dessert - "bovški kraf" will await you.
